Capsicum, often also referred to as red pepper or chili pepper, is a herb. Or is it a berry? or vegetable?
Its fruit is commonly applied to the skin for arthritis pain and other conditions. The fruit of the capsicum plant contains a chemical called capsaicin. Capsaicin is what seems to help reduce pain and swelling.
But what colours does this wonderful herb come in? Well, capsicums are usually sold by colour; all capsicums are green at first, then turn red, orange, yellow or a purple black when they ripen further. Red capsicums are the sweetest due to their higher sugar content, and are rich in vitamin C and beta carotene.
I came across this yellow one. And it was simply, irresistibly gorgeous.
